Job Description

MAJOR ACTIVITIES

Key Responsibilities

a) Support the development and implementation of strategic plans aligned with the three core Strategic Outcomes (SO1: Education, SO2: Access and Success, SO3: Entrepreneurship)

b) Manage relationships in collaboration with the Secretariat across the nine founding institutions including Ashesi University, Association of Ghana Industries, Koforidua Technical University, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, McGill University, University of Environment and Sustainable Development, University of Ghana, University of Health and Allied Sciences, and the Mastercard Foundation

c) Coordinate and integrate the efforts of academic institutions, vocational schools, community organizations, and industry bodies within the collaborative.

d) Facilitate multi-faceted programs linking education, entrepreneurship, and community-based action research

e) Oversee timely implementation of program activities, including pilot projects, training programs, and entrepreneurship initiatives.

f) Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring data-informed decision making and the integration of effective learning loops to support course correction, and adaptive management across all program components.

g) Ensure timely and accurate internal reporting and alignment with Mastercard Foundation and other funder requirements. Prepare high-quality narrative and data-driven reports for stakeholders, donors, and collaborative partners that clearly demonstrate progress, outcomes, and learning.

h) Foster inclusive, collaborative governance by coordinating working groups and joint decision-making processes that reflect the Nkabom Collaborative’s commitment to co-creation, gender and disability inclusion, and strong partnerships.

i) Cultivate and maintain productive relationships with government agencies, funders, international collaborators, and private sector actors.

j) Supervise staff if applicable

k) Support the promotion and visibility of the Nkabom Collaborative through participation in organizing conferences and learning events.

l) Support regular program assessments and recommend improvements based on evidence

m) Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice exchange across the collaborative network

n) Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of partner university alumni in Ghana for program implementation and resource mobilization.

o) Facilitate opportunities for alumni to contribute to experiential learning programs

p) And other duties, as assigned.
 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

a) Master’s degree in International Development, Project Management, Development Studies, Public Policy, Education, Agriculture, Nutrition, or a related field.

b) At least 5-7 years of progressive experience managing large-scale, multi stakeholder development or education programs.

c) Prior experience working in education, youth development, entrepreneurship, or agriculture in African contexts.

d) Proven track record in donor-funded programs, particularly those supported by global development institutions like the Mastercard Foundation.

e)Demonstrated leadership and coordination of multi-institutional programs.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours

a) Deep understanding of systems thinking, inclusive development, and youth focused programming. A strong understanding of agriculture and nutrition systems, value chains and market systems in Ghana is an asset.

b) Knowledge of youth employment challenges, entrepreneurship development and business incubation programs in the Ghanaian context an asset.

c) Experience with results-based management and monitoring & evaluation systems

d) Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and institutions, and develop networks.

e) Strong spoken and written communication skills, the ability to respond to critical issues, and solve problems with sensitivity and good judgment.

f) Strong planning, analytical, organizational and decision-making skills,

g) coupled with the ability to establish and respond to priorities.

h) Visionary with the ability to inspire others to jointly develop and implement forward-looking practices.
